Sailors Get Special Clothing Allowance...or Maybe YOU Didn't?

After reading the article HERE, I wanted to take a moment to mention this little tidbit of information!! It has been brought to attention that all sailors did not receive the max clothing allowance for the new Navy Working Uniform assignment. If this affects you or if you aren't sure if you received your max clothing allowance then immediately login to Bupers Online to see if you are one of 45,000 sailors who didn't receive your correct uniform allotment!------>

The Navy has announced a targeted, one-time Clothing Replacement Allowance for approximately 45,000 Sailors who did not receive the required amount of Navy Working Uniforms or annual allowances. Sailors can log on to Bupers Online and run an individual review to determine if they will receive a targeted CRA payment -- the query hyperlink is named "Navy Working Uniform One-time Targeted Clothing Replacement Allowance Information." Also, the NPC Customer Service Center is available between the hours of 0800 to 2000 EST at 1-866-U-ASK-NPC (866-827-5672). Sailors will be notified of payment in the remarks section of their LES.....from MILITARY.COM

If you have some major excess and want to save your kiddo from additional cavities before the next holiday, then I have the perfect solution!! Halloween Candy Buy Back!! So rather than have it melt in their goody bag, get sucked up in the vacuum, stuck in your carpeting, or better yet an over-indulgent pet chows down, donate it to your local dentist! Not only do they want to buy it back from you for around $1 a pound, but they will be donating it to soldiers deployed over-seas. This is a win win....donate sugar and pass it on!  Whooooo-hooo, what a great way to show them support! You can read all about the Halloween Candy Buy Back Program HERE!

AAFES Mystery Shopper

Friday, October 22, 2010 • 0 comments

How cool is this ....You can currently register HERE to be eligible to be a mystery shopper with AAFES Mystery Shopper Program. This program is so exciting! I mean how ofter do we get to shop our military exchanges, and offer valuable feedback on the products and services that they offer! As of right now this program is only available in The Exchange (Army and Air Force). But that is okay, if you are stationed in another branch, but do utilize the Exchange over your exchange services, you are still eligible to sign up!

After you follow the link HERE, you will be prompted to sign into the All Exchange catalog online. This is the same place that you make your Star Card Payments. If you have never registered here, you will be prompted to register first with your information. This is the information that is on your military id card, so be prepared....this is of course a secure government site. After you have registered and created login information, you will then be taken to the AAFES Mystery Shopper Program. You will then register again, but only for this program.

As compensation for your time and survey completion, you will receive a $30 gift certificate, and a night at the movies for free (two theater passes with two large bags of popcorn and two medium drinks). If you military installation doesn't have a movie theatre, you will only receive the $30 gift certificate as compensation.

I was really surprised when I signed up for this program. The link and site stated that only 28 individuals had visited and signed up.....how crazy is that. So go ahead and try to score a little something extra while doing a good service for all of your other exchange patrons.

Thanks, MilitaryWivesSaving!

Useful and Educational Sites to help YOU improve your Military Experience as well as Others

Wednesday, August 11, 2010 • 0 comments

Okay so let's take a moment and I would like to focus on a few sites that really help the nomadic lifestyle of the military. Let's all face it ....military life can be very hard....but there are so many wonderful resources that help all branches of the military have a much more pleasant transition throughout their careers. I know from personal experience how hard it can be to deal with our spouses career choices. With that said below I have listed a few resources that will surely help your days with information, support and always laughter!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS TREE...I know Christmas is a bit off but this site is a really wonderful service to our military!!Operation Christmas Tree started after our daughter was deployed to Iraq. The idea was born after we decided to send a 'bit of home' during the holiday season which consisted of one standard size Christmas tree. Unfortunately we faced the issue of how to ship it. After deliberating we came up with the idea of shipping two foot tall trees to as many service members in Iraq and Afghanistan, including our daughter. This was a major success among those that received the trees and because of this we have decided to make Operation Christmas Tree a yearly project until our troops are home.

OPERATION PAYBACK ..... I really love this:)....This organization was created to further perpetuate the Tea Party enthusiasm for paying homage to our Veterans and to channel our energy, emotions, resources, and finances into an honorable and worthy cause! The Tea Party movement is much more than any one person, any one organization, any political campaign, or any political party. Our Veterans are the single greatest national treasure of this great country and every American overwhelmingly should agree with this perspective. Yet, hundreds of thousands of our Veterans are struggling through the current system and many are falling through the cracks.

KIDSONLINELINK.ORG....This website is a must for any parent of a military kiddo....KidsLink Downrange exists to provide military children with the means to communicate regularly with their deployed parent downrange. In military slang, 'downrange' is a term for being deployed overseas, usually in a war zone.

Skipcares...My only comment is what great support....- Special Kindness In Packages, Inc. (SKIP) – Free and Fun Military Care Packages For Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. SKIP Cares.

Tell Them Thanks...This site makes me proud to be an American and brings a tear to my eye...We are a non-profit group whose mission is to support our Military Heroes who are deployed abroad. We want every Soldier, Marine, Airman, Sailor and Guardsman to hear their names called at Mail Call. Our dedicated members "adopt" one or more Service Members and then support them for the length of their deployment. Our members are required to send at least one letter a month, but many of them write more often and send care packages as well. If you are a Service Member who would like to be adopted, please visit our website and fill out a short application! If you are a caring citizen who would like to write to our heroes overseas, please visit our website and fill out an application for membership!

I am partial to all of the sites listed above! If you have a fantastic site that you would like me to include just leave a comment and I will make sure that we all hear about it:)
